The Rotating Scholarship Fund aims to:
Build Soulside’s capacity by empowering and sponsoring new teachers from communities we serve.
Soulside Healing Arts seeks community members interested in becoming yoga teachers to participate in a trainee sponsorship program.
Soulside embraces the benefits of having a diverse team, and recognizes the structural barriers in place that have led to a majority of yoga teachers to be white females. The priority of diversity, as well as any previous dedication to a yoga practice, will be considered in recruitment of scholarship recipients.
Applicants are welcome to apply anytime; we will reach out to prospective scholarship recipients when we are ready to fund the next training. We currently do not have the next training date or application due date set.
REQUIREMENTS OF SELECTED TRAINEES
Complete a 200-hour teacher training program offered by a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School.
Training program must be approved by Soulside Healing Arts. Our recommendation is the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with lead teacher Tammy Mitchel at Om on the River. Most programs hold training hours on weekends.
Be partnered with a current Soulside teacher as a mentor for the duration of your training.
Shadow 6 trauma-informed classes led by current Soulside teachers.
Teach with Soulside for at least 2 years following your training. (You may also teach in other capacities. Contract with Soulside will not be exclusive.)
Pay back ¼ of yoga training costs to the revolving scholarship fund within 18 months of finishing your training. Payback may occur in form of a trade by teaching classes at Soulside.
