Leading* From a Place of Embodiment

Embodied leadership requires us to tune in to our body’s sensations, rhythms, and cues in order to nourish ourselves before leading or serving others. Modeling self-awareness and nervous system regulation will go much further than navigating systems or “helping” from a state of stress and disembodiment. Deepening your capacity for nervous system regulation and attunement to your body’s signals is the first step to effective leadership.

This workshop provides time for self-reflection, journaling, and small group discussion. The workshop closes with a gentle yoga class for the group to experience the somatic techniques and nervous system regulation discussed first-hand.

From Past Participants…

The yoga was so great! I loved what the instructor said about grounding oneself and the little techniques I can use on that for my clients.”

“The approach was indeed restorative and peaceful.”

It was truly wonderful, I really appreciated creating space for people to speak up if they chose to, but also verbalizing that it was okay to step out of our therapist role and just embrace the experience.”

This training can be tailored for a general yoga-curious audience, helping professionals, or yoga instructors. Topics include but are not limited to:

  • What is trauma? Why do people experience and heal from it differently?

  • How stress is stored: the brain, body, and nervous system

  • The long term implications of fight, flight, freeze, fold, and fawn

  • Completing the stress cycle and bottom-up processing

  • Autonomy and boundary setting in movement practices and beyond

  • Invitational language, power dynamics and scope of practice, consent, and intentional use and non-use of props

Timing: 2.5 hours to 14 hours (2 days)
Cost: dependent on location, number of participants, and length. Please email info@soulsidehealingarts.com to inquire.

From Past Participants…

“I LOVED the way that the instructors "walked the talk" - the facilitation of the training itself was trauma-informed, and felt very permissive, empowered, tender, caring, and kind.”

I appreciated the flow of the day. It was a good balance of lecture, discussion and movement.”

I loved experiencing several yoga classes that were deliberately sequenced and taught in trauma-informed ways. This helped me connect brain knowledge to body knowledge - to FEEL the way a safe and embodied practice feels different than other yoga practices I've experienced was really profound, and something I'll remember for a long time.”
